Counterfeit gold coins flood U.S.

Postby Bullion Bud » 21 December 2016

fake always worries me :(

***ALERT*** Three fake 1 oz Gold American Eagle coins came into the shop and they were very good counterfeits. We DO NOT handle items like this. This video is made and published so that consumers can educate themselves on real vs fake. These were shipped to us from Massachusetts. Please be careful and buy from trusted dealers.

An "expert" isn't going to help you. In order to be certain of a precious metal's purity/authenticity you need mass spectrometers and sonogram machines- which are very expensive. The best defense against fakes is to buy from a reputable seller.

I'm out of the bullion collecting business. Too much fakes out there now. I can tell you even professional dealers and distributers are being fooled. That's not a very good fake but there are some that are exact copies and measures and weighs hair line exact. Collecting bullion isn't safe anymore in my opinion. I don't want to but I'm going cash... Enough is enough.
