Hi all, got out today for a few hours.
The G2+ hit a couple of silvers

And the first hammered coin for the G2+ a nice Henry 111, voided Long Cross penny 1247-79ad

Wow very nice Cliff.

Once you report the coins to the appropriate authorities are you allowed to keep them? or do they get taken away from you to a museum or something? sorry for my lack of knowledge.

Hi Gold Jodie, single coin finds don't have to be reported, we have a voluntary scheme called the PAS, Portable Antiquity Scheme which we can report our finds too, if you are lucky enough to find a hoard or cache then that has to be reported to them and to the coriner, if it is deemed as treasure under the treasure act, then you will be award a amount they deemed appropriate to the find, which is split into two, as the farmer is the land owner and the finder.
But lately they have been sending hoards and single medieval gold rings back to the finders, maybe they can't or don't have the money or the museums are not interested in putting a bid in to purchase them?
Hope this is helpful Jodie
