1933 sixpence

Postby CliffB » 15 August 2016

Today's best find is this modern coinage
King George v 1933 sixpence ( only 50%) silver
But I do like finding the silver sixpence and in good condition as well
Hope you like

How much silver is there in a sixpence? If indeed there's any? nice assortment of finds you have.

Hi Silver Rocket,
Early date - 1920 were made with 92.5% silver
1921-1946 had a 50% silver content
Any sixpence after 1946 were made out of copper nickel
This coin weight is 2.4g so the silver content is 1.2g

Not that active now I might get out twice a month or even less, as we have had a lot of rain and flooding in Cumbria, but I was out today, but it was a little wet still.
I would like to see more of other peoples finds as, I like you, love to see the history, but I did find another silver
cheers Bounty mate
